California’s New Anti-Deepfake Laws
On Tuesday, the California Governor signed five new laws aiming to protect election integrity and safeguard actors' rights against AI misuse.
Details:
Three of the new laws focus on preventing AI deepfakes that could influence elections. Platforms like Facebook and X are now required to remove or label such content. Politicians can seek legal action if platforms fail to comply.
Two laws protect actors by requiring studios to get permission before creating AI replicas of a performer's voice or likeness. This includes restrictions on using deceased actors' images without consent from their estates.
Governor Newsom is considering additional AI-related bills. One, known as SB 1047, has sparked debate due to its potential impact on open-source AI development.
These laws represent a significant step in addressing the new challenges posed by AI technologies. We will likely see more of these as the technology continues to advance rapidly.

One in Five GPs Turn to AI Tools Like ChatGPT for Daily Tasks
A recent survey reveals that a significant number of general practitioners (GPs) are integrating AI tools, such as ChatGPT, into their daily routines.
Details:
One in five GPs reported using AI tools like ChatGPT, Bing AI, or Google’s Gemini in their clinical practice.
Nearly a third of the GPs using AI tools employ them for creating patient documentation, while 28% use them to explore alternative diagnoses. Additionally, a quarter of the respondents use AI to suggest treatment options.
The survey indicates that AI tools can be valuable for administrative tasks and supporting clinical reasoning. However, there are concerns about patient privacy and the accuracy of AI-generated suggestions.
The integration of AI tools into healthcare practices seems to be on the rise. However, there is a clear need for regulatory frameworks to ensure they are used responsibly.

How to use Meta's Real-Time AI Image Generation on WhatsApp
With Meta AI, you can watch the AI generate an image for you as you type.
Open the chat with Meta AI (tap the search field at the top of your Chats list).
Type 'imagine' in the message field, followed by your text prompt.
As you type your prompt, Meta AI will show you a real-time preview of the image. You can add more details or adjust the prompt, and the preview will update instantly. Keep refining it until you're happy with the final image.
Once you're done, click Send and download your image.
