ByteDance’s New OmniHuman AI Creates Realistic Videos from a Single Image

ByteDance just dropped OmniHuman-1, a game changer in generating realistic human videos at any aspect ratio and body proportion with just a single image and audio.

Details:

• Unlike previous AI tools that only animated faces or upper bodies, OmniHuman creates lifelike motion for the entire body, producing some of the most realistic deepfake videos to date.

• OmniHuman supports various visual and audio styles, such as cartoons, artificial objects, animals, and challenging poses, while ensuring motion characteristics match each style's unique features.

• The AI was trained on 18,700 hours of human video data, combining text, audio, and body movements.

• OmniHuman can also use the original video (from which the image was taken) to mimic specific actions, guiding the generation to replicate body and/or hand movements.

This technology could reshape how we produce digital content, making it easier to create videos for entertainment, education, and communication, but it also raises serious concerns about its potential misuse.

Although ByteDance has not yet released the OmniHuman-1 to the public, you can check out several demos on the project’s website.

Figure AI Drops OpenAI Partnership to Build Its Own AI Models

Figure AI has announced it will no longer rely on OpenAI’s AI models for its robots’ vision and speech capabilities. Instead, the company is developing its own AI systems to achieve greater control and integration.

Details:

• Figure AI’s founder, Brett Adcock, cited integration challenges as the reason for the decision and stated that his company has just “made a major breakthrough” with a new model “built entirely in-house.”

• Adcock also disclosed plans to reveal new features for its robots within 30 days, promising “something no one has ever seen on a humanoid.”

• OpenAI is a major investor in Figure AI, though the company recently reopened its robotics division, potentially setting up a competitive dynamic with Figure AI.

While the move carries risks, it reflects the company’s vision to lead in robotics innovation. Their robots are already operating in BMW manufacturing plants, and they plan to expand into other industries.

How to use DeepSeek R1 in Perplexity to avoid security risks

DeepSeek AI’s models have raised some concerns about data privacy and security, but there is a way to access them securely via Perplexity AI. Perplexity hosts DeepSeek in US/EU data centers, ensuring that your data does not go to China.

1. Go to Perplexity AI and log in.

2. Navigate to the prompt box at the bottom of the screen.

3. Click on the ‘Pro’ button located near the prompt input field.

4. A dropdown menu will appear with multiple AI models,

5. Select ‘Reasoning with R1’ as your preferred model.

6. Enter your prompt; all responses will be generated using the DeepSeek R1 engine.

Note: The free plan gives users three Pro-level queries per day, which you could use with R1.

You can also access it similarly through You.com, though only through its Pro tier, without any free queries.
