MISTRAL

Mistral AI Presents Mistral Large 2

Mistral has just launched its latest flagship model, Large 2, claiming it is on par with and even surpasses in some areas the best offerings from Meta and OpenAI.

Details:

  • Mistral claims Large 2 outperforms Llama 3.1 405B in code generation and math performance, despite having only 123 billion parameters.

  • A primary focus during training was to minimize hallucinations. Large 2 is designed to acknowledge unknowns rather than fabricating plausible but incorrect responses.

  • With a 128,000 token window, Large 2 can process a substantial amount of data in a single prompt, equivalent to roughly a 300-page book.

  • The model boasts improved multilingual support, understanding 12 languages and 80 coding languages. Mistral also highlights that Large 2 produces more concise responses compared to other leading AI models.

Large 2 is now available on Google Vertex AI, Amazon Bedrock, Azure AI Studio, and IBM watsonx.ai. Users can also test it for free on Mistral’s le Chat.

AI RESEARCH

CLAY AI Model Generates Detailed 3D Objects from Text and Images

Researchers at Shanghai Tech University have developed an impressive new AI model called CLAY. This AI can generate highly detailed 3D objects from simple text descriptions or images, surpassing previous methods in both quality and versatility.

Details:

  • CLAY has been trained on a massive dataset of over 500,000 processed 3D models.

  • It is capable of producing detailed 3D objects in about 45 seconds and can be driven by additional inputs, such as rough shapes or bounding boxes, in addition to text and images.

  • The scientists claim it could have many potential uses, including game development, film production, and 3D printing, by streamlining the traditionally labor-intensive process of creating 3D models.

Despite the exceptional results, researchers acknowledge there are areas for improvement and are working on enhancing the quality while also taking steps to ensure the technology is used responsibly.
