GOOGLE

Google recently announced an exciting update to its Bard AI chatbot - it can now answer questions about YouTube videos.

Details:

  • Bard can understand content within YouTube videos to answer specific questions - like how many eggs are used in a recipe featured in a video

  • Before, Bard's YouTube integration only allowed finding videos on topics. Now Bard engages more deeply with video content.

  • You can ask very specific questions like "Where is the place shown at 1:35 in this travel video located?" to get informative answers.

Currently, this feature is only available as an opt-in Labs experience. You may notice that it sometimes provides incorrect information or that you might need to try different prompts to finally get the answer you are looking for. Google will continue working on improving the accuracy of this feature.

STABILITY AI

Stability AI Unveils New AI Video Generator

Stability AI just unveiled Stable Video Diffusion, a new AI system that animates still images into short video clips.

Details:

  • It is based on Stability's popular Stable Diffusion image generator

  • It comes in two models, SVD and SVD-XT. The first can transform still images into 576×1024 videos in 14 frames, SVD-XT ups the frames to 24. Both can produce high-quality 4-second videos ranging from 3-30 frames per second

  • Video quality is on par with models from Meta, Google, and AI startups but has some limitations in generating motion, text, and consistent people/faces

Stable Video Diffusion demonstrates surprising video generation capabilities for an early-stage model. With plans to expand features and commercialize, Stability seems poised to become a leader in AI-powered synthetic video technology.

AI Tutorial

Using the new Bard’s YouTube feature

  1. Activate the extension

To try the YouTube extension for Google Bard, simply navigate to the chatbot in your browser and click on the extension button located at the top right of the screen.

On the screen that appears, activate the YouTube extension, and you're all set to proceed

  1. Provide video link and prompt

Now you can paste the link of the YouTube video into Bard, and add a prompt to get information about it. A simple example would be: “Summarize this video”

  1. Ask follow-up questions and experiment with different prompts

From there, you can inquire about further details regarding the video by asking follow-up questions.

As we mentioned before, this new tool is not 100% accurate, and you might have to try different prompts to get the information you want.

For example, in a cooking video, if you ask Bard to give you the 'full recipe,' it won’t provide it. However, if you ask for 'step-by-step instructions,' it will provide the information.

Even with its current limitations, exploring this tool can be beneficial for both consumers and creators.

Adobe acquires Indian generative AI startup Rephrase

Adobe continues to invest in generative AI, acquiring Indian video startup Rephrase.ai which creates professional videos from text prompts. Rephrase simplifies video production, transforming text into professional-looking videos, and had managed to gain 50K+ users before the acquisition. As part of Adobe, Rephrase technology could power enhanced video features between Photoshop and Premiere.

X to Unveil AI Chatbot for Premium Subscribers

Next week, X will provide its Premium+ subscribers with access to Grok, an AI chatbot developed by Elon Musk's xAI. Grok is marketed as having more personality than rival chatbots. While personality may attract interest, Grok’s differentiation will hinge on providing real-time knowledge via integration with the X platform. The addition could drive more paid subscriptions to prop up X's revenue amidst advertiser withdrawals.
