AI IN THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY

Actor and Investor Ashton Kutcher Thinks OpenAI’s Sora Will Change Hollywood ⭐

Ashton Kutcher has been granted early access to OpenAI's video generator, Sora. In a recent interview, Kutcher shared his insights on how this new technology could revolutionize the entertainment industry, potentially transforming the way movies and TV shows are produced.

Details:

  • Kutcher believes some of the videos created by Sora have a quality good enough to be used ‘in a major motion picture or television show.’

  • He predicts a significant reduction in production costs, with more and more tasks being taken over by AI systems. Kutcher says the impact on creative fields and jobs, in general, could be huge.

  • As entire movies could soon be made automatically and costs decrease, Kutcher foresees a surplus of content, possibly more than people can watch.

  • With the increased competition he believes that the bar for good, hit content will be much higher.” the bar is going to have to go way up, because why are you going to watch my movie when you could just watch your own movie?”

OpenAI is already in discussions with movie studios, media executives, and talent agencies in Los Angeles to integrate Sora into the filmmaking process. Meta and Google are also attempting to establish connections in Hollywood for their respective AI video tools.

AI RESEARCH

AI Predicts Potential New Antibiotics in Groundbreaking Study

Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania have utilized the power of AI to discover new potential antibiotic compounds hidden within the vast genetic data of microbes.

Details:

  • Discovering a new antibiotic using conventional methods typically takes about 10 to 15 years.

  • The researchers employed machine learning to analyze the genomes of tens of thousands of bacteria and other microorganisms.

  • This unprecedented effort yielded nearly one million potential antibiotic compounds, with dozens showing promising activity in initial tests against disease-causing bacteria.

This achievement marks one of the largest antibiotic discovery efforts to date and is important due to the rise of superbugs, which pose a severe threat to global health. Antimicrobial resistance currently causes around 1.27 million deaths annually, and without new antibiotics, this number could escalate to 10 million deaths per year by 2050.
