‘Apple Intelligence’ Dominates WWDC 🦾
Apple revealed a large collection of new product features during its Worldwide Developers Conference on Monday, hoping that this could bring the company up to speed with an increasingly competitive AI market.
Details:
Apple focused on AI features being brought to its flagship products under the banner of "Apple Intelligence," which includes notification and email summaries, image generation, and OpenAI's ChatGPT integration into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS, and Siri.
Siri received significant AI upgrades, enabling natural conversations, image recognition, text message scheduling, and photo editing capabilities.
The inclusion of ChatGPT will be accessible to users for free and will assist Siri when the assistant cannot help with certain commands. However, Siri will ask users for their permission to share their questions with the chatbot.
While Apple did not provide specific release dates for these AI-powered features, the company's track record suggests they could roll out within the next three to four months. You can check the new AI features in more detail here.

Musk Threatens Apple Ban Over OpenAI Integration
Elon Musk has threatened to ban Apple devices from his companies if Apple integrates technology from OpenAI into its operating systems.
On Monday, just hours after Apple announced its partnership with OpenAI at its annual developer conference, Musk declared the integration would be "an unacceptable security violation". He stated visitors would need to leave Apple devices in signal-blocking Faraday cages before entering Tesla and SpaceX facilities.
His statements underscore Musk's increasingly confrontational stance as he positions his AI startup xAI to compete directly against Apple, OpenAI, and others in the AI market. Musk has been an outspoken critic of OpenAI, which he co-founded as a non-profit in 2015 before a tumultuous parting.
But he is not alone in expressing concerns, some cybersecurity experts have also cautioned it could prove risky given the current limitations around AI security.
