A group of well-known authors is taking legal action against Anthropic, accusing the company of using pirated books to train its AI models. The lawsuit, filed in California, claims that Anthropic has 'built a multibillion-dollar business by stealing hundreds of thousands of copyrighted books.'

Filed by authors like Andrea Bartz and Charles Graeber, the suit accuses Anthropic of using a dataset called "The Pile," which includes "Books3," a collection of pirated ebooks.
Anthropic admitted to using The Pile for training its AI but hasn't responded to requests for comment regarding the lawsuit.
This case is part of a broader trend where authors are increasingly challenging tech companies like Meta and OpenAI over similar issues.

OpenAI has struck a deal with Condé Nast to bring content from top media outlets like Vogue, The New Yorker, and more into its AI platforms, ChatGPT and SearchGPT.
Details:
This collaboration aims to enrich user experience by offering high-quality content from trusted sources.
Users can access direct links to original articles through SearchGPT.
This agreement adds to a growing list, as OpenAI has also signed deals with Associated Press, Axel Springer, The Atlantic, Dotdash Meredith, Financial Times, Le Monde, News Corp, Prisa Media, TIME, and Vox Media.
As these partnerships become more common, some tech and media industries seem to be finding a middle ground that benefits both sides.
