The International Olympic Committee has big plans for leveraging AI at future Olympic games. In an announcement Friday, IOC officials outlined their agenda for taking advantage of rapidly advancing AI technology.

Details:

  • AI could be used to help identify promising young athletes and personalize training methods and make the games fairer by improving judging.

  • The IOC's plans also include using AI to protect athletes from online harassment and to assist broadcasters in enhancing the viewing experience for audiences.

  • "We are determined to exploit the vast potential of AI in a responsible way," stated IOC President Thomas Bach.

Some AI projects will roll out at the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics, and the IOC has set up a working group on the technology to further drive its adoption in sports in the future.
