US Copyright Office Clarifies AI-Generated Works Copyright Protection ©
The U.S. Copyright Office has officially ruled that works created with the help of AI can be eligible for copyright protection—but only if a human substantially contributed or changed the content in question.
Details:
The Copyright Office emphasized that a human’s input, such as creative modifications or arrangements of AI-generated work, is required for a work to qualify.
Simply prompting AI tools to generate content doesn’t grant the user copyright ownership. For instance, generating a video based on a description would not qualify, but a human editing multiple AI-generated video clips into a new whole would seem to qualify.
The document does not address the controversial practice of using copyrighted human works to train AI systems, leaving that debate for future legal and policy discussions.
The report reaffirms the longstanding principle that copyright applies only to human creativity, while acknowledging that AI can serve as a tool in the creative process.
This decision could have major implications for artists, writers, musicians, and the entertainment industry as AI tools grow in popularity and the debate over AI and copyright continues to evolve.

This Year's Super Bowl Will Be Full of AI Ads
Super Bowl LIX is set to showcase a wave of AI-focused advertisements, with companies spending over $8 million for 30-second spots. According to Fox Sports executive Mark Evans, AI is "coming like a freight train."

This year’s Super Bowl, set for February 9, will highlight AI companies and products as the new mainstream.
More than 10 advertisers have invested in Super Bowl LIX’s record-breaking ad slots. Evans says that both massive companies investing in AI and some AI-focused companies will be represented during the game, though he declined to name specific brands.
While AI ad buys are up, those from movie studios and streaming platforms are down, with lingering effects from the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2023 Hollywood strikes "playing a part in that."
These ads mirror the hype surrounding the technology and highlight how deeply it has become intertwined with today’s culture and economy.

Mark Zuckerberg told investors that Meta isn’t worried about DeepSeek. He said that what DeepSeek was able to accomplish with relatively little money only reinforces Meta’s focus on AI, with plans to integrate DeepSeek’s “advancements” into Llama.
